British Gas: The Truth About Gas and Electricity by a Second WW2 Survivor

British gas, every time that I heard that word I get a little bit sad. My name is Lucy McKensey, we are part of the McKensey clan from Scotland, I was born in 1928 and what I’m about to tell you will change any concept that you have about Gas and Electricity.

I was 11 years old when my father decided to take us to one of his business trips, this time it was the end of August, I had to left my friend Wendy and her upcoming birthday party were Tom Edwards will make his debut with some Magic Tricks.

We had to go to Poland, yeah if you know a little bit of history , we were there on the 1st of September of 1939. The Germans were all around and they were treating people so badly.

My Father was only a business man but he had to deal with Jews, bad luck ours that my father was in a restaurant that was targeted as a Jewish point and bad luck of my Father he got killed that day… I cried for hours, I couldn’t understand why those men wearing those dark suits with a red, white, black star or something like that were doing that.

My Mother and Rebecca My sister decide to hide in one of the rooms of the main managers of the Bruschaskra Hotel, guess what, a lot of Jews were there too, it was a disaster they killed a lot of people I have never seen how a brain look like, that day I knew.

A man took me by the arm and told me to shut up, we were behind the main countter of the hotel, then a man with a very bad English accent said to my mother we got your husband, we need the pass-code, the pass-word, he said again, my mother didn’t said anything about it and the guy shoot her in the head. Until today I remember that day with horror, my sister Rebecca was on shock and started to screem and the guy shoot her as well.

This man who grabbed my arm, told me to stay quiet using signs, with his hands, because he didn’t speak English at that time. The officers didn’t see us. I was saved but my family was gone. I remember I thought about going back to Scotland and go back to my bed wake up the next day and said It was a nightmare.

That was me a 11 year old girl alone, not relay this man, called Karl, took me to his house in the mountains a lovely place where I learnt a lot during the next 5 years until I got married with Karl. Karl was 5 years older than me. He was 17 when we met, I still love him with all my heart for saving my life that day.

Back in Scotland after the world I was appproched by uncle Harry, my father’s brother and he told me that he had a Job for Karl, they were planning to create a Gas council and they needed people they can trust in order to follow what my father started 5 years ago, You can read the rest of the story here:

British Gas History

My father hold the key for the foundation of the Gas and Electricity of this country, but nobody wants to believe my story, I leave to you, maybe I’ll be gone when the truth is well known. I’m sitting in my home in Glasgow it is winter but I’m enjoying what my father started a nation with Gas and Electricity in almost every home. But I will give you the best lesson ever from my story, everything happens for a reason, I’ve found love, Karl is gone but I will join him soon.

Love Lucy.

It is very annoying.

I think it will just keep rising.

Ask if you can pay in instalments. It could mount up but least you're making the effort to pay what you can.

Not to offend you, you're brave to put this on here, but i have a few problems.
It's very predictable, and somewhat boring. You have a nice writing style though, it's very descriptive.
You should do a little more research on the foreign exchange student process. It seems as though she just rode a plane to London and everything happened very quickly.
I like where you're going, but it seems sort of, trying hard to be different, like a lot of stories are. Just don't fall into a boring predictable story, add a twist.

Good luck with the rest!

If you lock in, gas prices go up, you win, if gas prices go down, you loose. I am not locking in as I don't feel that the prices will go up, in fact on this bill, prices came down, so I am already ahead. You have to go by what you think—will they go up, or will they go down. I figure that the energy prices are so high now, how high can they go? Your guess is as good as mine. It was not long ago that $59 a barrel was high!!!!!!!!! now look.

This is a wide-spread, common scam letter. Don't reply. Ask yourself this: Did you apply for this job? Are you trained for this job? If not, why would they offer it to you? How did they get your name? The questions in this letter are all designed to steal your identity. They are also trying to steal about £670 from you for "travel expenses". There is NO JOB waiting for you.

I'd think they could track you down and make you pay. Put it into collections and garnish your wages.

Not very decent to run off and not pay your bills.

Why was your bill excessive, in your opinion? Did you not use your furnace and other gas operated appliances that month?

Perhaps you should consider retaining the existing system and replacing the old boiler with an updated version. That would be much less expensive of course as it would merely involve an alteration to the boiler connections. At worst you may have to relocate the boiler due to flueing considerations. It seems to me that BG have seen an opportunity to install a changed system which is not necessary but will exercise their cash registers.
There is no doubt that combis are good appliances, especially the Worcester Bosch which BG usually fit. But if you haven't got a spare £4000 burning a hole in your pocket I would investigate a boiler only option. You can get 'A' efficiency boilers 'system' boilers which will do exactly the same as your old boiler did but at lesser running cost. A new boiler should cost around £500 – £800 according to the size of your house. Any Gas Safe registered heating engineer should be able to 'install only' for no more than £1000, and that's with relocation. Start ringing round for quotes.
I don't know about credit schemes but you could spread it interest free over a year with a new credit card. Google interest free credit card deals if it appeals. Alternatively ask your mortgage co if you can tack on the cost, or if not your bank may be able to help with a better deal than BG.

1 – It has to do with the seizure and creation of Israel against the wishes of its previous Palestinian occupants. I don't know what the Brits have to do with it.

2 – We invaded Iraq in the '90s to protect Kuwait, which Iraq invaded in response to Kuwait tapping Iraq's oil wells. I'm not sure, but I think the US put Kuwait up to this.

3 – There was a revolution in Iran in '79 because Iran wanted to take back their government from the US-installed Shah, who was a ruthless dictator that was terrible to the Iranian people. Don't know who Mossadegh is.

your argument is not valid, here's why you say there were no blueprints for gas chambers. this is because the chambers used were nothing but modified showers.
Eyewitness testimony has been used to put people to death all over the world, the people who witnessed the gassing's were not survivors of the gas,but workers who removed the bodys. there is in fact forensic evidence of mass killings, the bodys themselves. in mass graves, what killed them the plague? and where do you suppose the millions of Jews went? did they get abducted by UFOs?
as for there being no mention of mass killings in Nazi documents. that is totally untrue. in fact even after the invasion of Europe . and the months the Nazis had to destroy evidence, the paper trail was so overwhelming they could not destroy all of it.And they did try,as most knew the war was lost at that point and it was only a matter of time before the allies won.
as for documentary evidence there is plenty the Russians as well as British and Americans all filmed the bodies stacked like wood . wonder what killed them? as well as the half starved survivors. who starved them? were they just on a mass hunger strike?

the main reason the figures are unknown is that most of the Jews, gypsies, gays, communists, and mentally disabled Killed did not come from Germany alone but from other territories ocupied by the nazis, the final solution was about deportation you say? to where? quite the contrary the Nazis were importing them into the death camps, why do you think they restricted travel for Jews, so they could leave? nonsense

as for making people angry you do not. all you are doing is trying to rationalize the final solution as a mas deportation. It speaks to your ignorance of history, and that is not a crime. it is sad that as General Eisenhower foretold, the horrors were such that people would not believe it.( this is why he made a point of documenting the aftermath as well as encouraging any GI who could to go see what had been done. check the national archives if you really want to see evidence. its there.

Payments part of a £37m investment to support struggling households, but consumer groups call for fairer energy pricing across the board British Gas will be reducing the bills of about 340,000 of its Essentials discounted tariff customers by £50 to help with their winter fuel bills, the company announced today. The payments are part of a £37m investment by the firm to support vulnerable customers; the remaining £20m will be put in the British Gas Energy Trust, a charity which pays grants to people in arrears with their energy bills and other household bills. It also funds voluntary sector organisations to provide money and debt advice. British Gas, along with the other big domestic energy suppliers, has come under fire for putting up gas and electricity prices – despite reporting big profits – at a time when many household are struggling to meet the cost of staying warm during the prolonged cold snap. British Gas increased prices for its gas and electricity by 7% last year. Scottish…
