 Compare gas prices

Compare gas prices and their providers is something that should be done for both home and business after every yearly contract that you might possess with a gas supplier. When receiving you bills make sure you can have them as detailed as possible to avoid any sort of costs that you might call ghosts. These are know to be as fake charges a gas supplier might have a go with you if you do not pay attention to your discriminated bills.

Do not compare gas prices with your neighbours because you will be mistakenly lead to think that you either have a great gas provision deal or not. Do it only if you have the same exact gas appliances and number of family members. This might be difficult to achieve so, the best way you can really compare gas prices is to have your gas meter read during a full month and then compare the prices on the Internet by seeing hoe much would A,B,C or D company charge for the amount you recorded to spend on gas during that month.

After having your numbers the most suitable thing to do will be giving them a call and try to negotiate what sort of gas deal would suit both parties. If you have a business, try to make a joint contract as the energy provider might give you a reduction in prices and rates simply because you are bringing them more business.

apparently it costs more to transport gas 4000 miles across the ocean from saudi arabia rather than the milk from the cows in our backyard

They’ll never match up to what the real industries could have been, absent politics; but with politics, they could unfortunately become much “cheaper”. If politicians say that coal, oil, etc. have to pay Earth back (to the government) for using her resources, then wind, solar, etc. could unfairly and wastefully become cheaper. Even if the politicians leave legitimate industries alone, but subsidize the “green” ones, same thing. People will say “told you so!”, when they really can’t.

What do you want, applause? LOL

I wouldn't gloat too much if I were you, because you were only driving 60 mph. At that speed, you should be getting good gas mileage anyway.

As other responders have said, there are other factors to consider, such as how many gallons your tank holds. Another important thing the other responders overlooked is the weight of the vehicle (# of occupants, luggage, etc.,). Did you keep the windows open or closed (open windows increases drag, decreasing gas mileage). Having the A/C on uses up a small amount of gas as well.

But on the surface, it sounds pretty good. Maybe a 7.5 out of 10.

- You can't take the market out of the argument. Would it be fair to compare gas prices in middle east to here? The market matters.

cuskal September 29, 2010 at 8:43 am

well you have to convert litres to gallons, remember one time filling up in the US. Below is a link to a chart you can do the conversion. Let's say my car can take 9 Gallons it means around 35 Litres. So 3 dollars a gallon, 3*9=27 Dollars
1 Dollar a Litre= 1*35=35.

You will probably be stuck with PECO, one of the least efficiently run utilities in the country. Lots of luck.

Water is provided by the city. It isn't too bad. At least you will be getting Delaware River Water, rather than Schuylkill (pronounced "Skookill) Punch.

Yeah, i didn’t believe the hype when I heard about tank-less water heaters. More maintenance than they’re worth.

The comparison websites should show you a breakdown on the costs. For example the Energylinx website – enter your details and so on to get the comparison and the list does give you how much you can save, but if you click on the 'new cost' for each it does give you a breakdown of pence per unit

Graham's law : the rate of effusion of a gas is inversely proportional to the square root of the mass of its particles.
Rate 1 / Rate 2 = square root M2 /M1
0.59 / 0.19 = square root M2 / 4.0026
3.10 = square root M2 / 4.0026
9.64 = M2 / 4.0026
M2 = 38.6 g/mol

2. H2 because it has the smallest molar mass

I have no desire to stay at home being a 'homemaker' while my husband makes the money. I keep a clean home, I have dinner on the table, and the laundry is done twice a week. Oh, and I work about 50 hours a week. So would I be satisfied with him sitting at home doing what I do in my 'spare' time instead of working? No, I certainly would not.

gabram arimenda December 29, 2010 at 3:16 pm

I have a very similar household set up to you except I live here with my 3 children and have oil central heating. I pay £40 per month for electricity by direct debit. Perhaps you are paying a high unit charge? Mine is 13.75 pence
