In my opinion, as long as you've got copies of all your correspondence to them, then surely you've done enough. Keep enjoying the free power. If they do get nasty, bring out your copies of the letters and shove it up their Corporate noses.
Are you serious? I know people who are paying $400-$600 and more every month on electricity simply because they refuse to leave Reliant or TXU. These people are struggling needlessly, when all you need to do is shop around. It’s like choosing to buy candy from the movie theatre or Wal-mart. It’s obvious what people on a budget should do. Turn off the a/c every possible chance you get. Keep the temp up as high as you can stand it. Wear light clothing and drink cool drinks.
Go to mall, library or other cool locations when it gets really hot during the day and leave the a/c off. Turn out the lights at all times when you are not in a room. Unplug any appliance that draws power (clocks, TV's, converter cords which draw a few amps even when not 'in use.' They also generate heat.)
Keep the refrigerator door closed as much as possible and keep it full (put in pop cans and water bottles to help retain the cold. Same in the freezer.)
Cook outside on the grill if possible. Cooling down a hot kitchen takes an a/c lots of energy.
