Bingo, now you know why those in poverty have higher obesity rates. Some people might say it's some kind of conspiracy to make everyone fat and lazy, but I kind of doubt that. Generally, processed food is less expensive to make. Plus, processed foods do not need to be fresh. They can be frozen and stored in a warehouse for six months before McDonald's needs to order it. And, processed foods are easier to prepare. Heat lamps, microwaves, fryers, etc. They also don't have to worry about whether or not the food is "organic" or "free range", or "meat" or "edible" for that matter. Exactly what part of a chicken does the "nugget" come from? Who cares? Throw the whole damn chicken in a blender, toss it onto an assembly line and let some giant mechanical cookie cutter chop it up into bite-sized nuggets for human consumption. Oh, and who needs to worry about losing profits from the occasional sick and dying animal when all of your livestock are force-fed antibiotics? Yesiree, gotta love processed food. If you can even call it food.
